Build a Better Life with STRONG

S.T.R.O.N.G. Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit serving Broome County and the Southern Tier, providing housing support, mentorship, and life-skills development for individuals and families overcoming homelessness, incarceration, and hardship. Catering to those experiencing substance abuse disorder, we exist to restore hope, rebuild stability, and strengthen communities — one household at a time.

–Executive Director Mr. Freddie R. Stevenson Jr.

Addiction by the Numbers

In Broome County, nearly 800 individuals experience homelessness, many without stable access to healthcare, employment, or recovery support.

Over the past decade, Broome County has averaged over 50 fatal overdoses and more than 350 non-fatal overdoses per year, highlighting the urgent need for long-term recovery and stability programs.

Programs like our parent program ROD Ministries are changing outcomes — after completing the program, only 5% of participants reoffend, demonstrating that mentorship, accountability, and community support can truly break the cycle. This is what we aim to do with STRONG.

“The counseling services at Southern Tier Recovery Outreach for New Growth have truly changed my life for the better. I am forever grateful for their guidance and support.”
